Biography

Chinese concert pianist Yutong Liang’s performances have been praised for “intense artistry, clarity and enthusiasm” by Macao Daily News and her solo repertoire spans from Baroque to the contemporary. Yutong performs as a solo, chamber, and collaborative pianist.

 

As a concert pianist, she has performed at a range of international venues, including the Herbst Theatre in San Francisco, Teatro Morlacchi in Italy, Macao Cultural Centre Grand Auditorium, D. Pedro V Theatre in Macao and Hong Kong City Hall Concert Hall. She received widespread acclaim and enthusiastic recognition from the audience. Yutong has appeared in concerto with many orchestras including the Macao Orchestra, The Macao Youth Symphony, and Shenzhen Symphony Orchestra. In 2022, she performed Mozart Piano Concerto No.20 in D minor, K.466 with Solisti di Perugia Orchestra at the International Festival of Perugia, Italy. 

 

In addition to performing classical music, Yutong enjoys exploring contemporary music, recently performing works by Michael Finnissy, Thea Musgrave and Michael Tippett, and most recently performing Gargoyles, Op.29 and Nocturne No.1-6 by Lowell Liebermann in Macao. She is also passionate about chamber music and is a founding member of the Lunae Trio, with a particular interest in including works by modern and contemporary composers in the repertoire.

 

Yutong has won prizes in multiple competitions, including The XI “Citta di Massa” International Competition, Hong Kong International Piano Open Competition, and Franz Liszt Center International Piano Competition. In 2021, she won the First Prize at The 7th Macao Asia Pacific Youth Piano Competition and was recognized as one of Macao’s Top 10 Young Pianist of the Year, performing at the Grand Auditorium of the Macao Cultural Centre.

 

Yutong has been invited to multiple prestigious piano music festivals around Europe, the United States, and Asia. Highlights include Bowdoin International Music Festival, Atlantic Music Festival, Rebecca Pennys Piano Festival, Artciál San Francisco International Piano Festival, Amalfi Coast Music and Art Festival, and The Cross Strait Youth Pianists Festival. She has received  guidance from her participation in masterclasses, from artists including Jerome Lowenthal, Robert McDonald, HieYon Choi, and Stanislav Loudenitch.

Yutong is currently studying with Colin Stone at the Royal Academy of Music, undertaking an MA. She completed her BA at the Macao Polytechnic University with a full scholarship for outstanding students. 

 

In her upcoming schedule, she will be holding solo recitals and chamber concert in China, including Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Hong Kong, and Macao. In 2026 , she was selected as an artist for the Hong Kong Fantasia International Music Artist Program.
